Ray Ban Sunglasses In Movies

No other brand quite epitomizes cool the way Ray Ban sunglasses do, and have done for over half a century. So what made Ray Ban the classic fashion accessory it is today? Well there’s no doubt that a lot of the brands appeal comes from the sunglasses prominent role in many many great movies. So without further ado, here are the….

2. Risky Business: In one of the most remembered movies scenes ever. Tom Cruise dances around his parents living room in his underwear, white shirt and Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses. If you’re looking for a pair like this then you will most likely like the Ray Ban rb2132 New Wayfarer sunglasses, color code 901.

3. Top Gun: Continuing the theme of product placement, Tom Cruise donned a pair of Large Aviator 3025′s for this classic 80′s hit. “That’s right! Ice… man. I am dangerous!” Yeah…

Cheesy it may have been but the company´s sales rose 40 percent after this movie.

4. The Blues Brothers: “It’s 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark, and we’re wearing sunglasses.”

Elroy Blues, obviously commenting on how useful the anti glare lenses are for driving…in the dark.

5. Men in Black: If you’re hunting down aliens from another planet then you definitely need reliable shades. Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith make Ray Bans even cooler with this 1994 hit. Their favored models? Both Tommy and his side kick Will wore the wraparound  rb 2030 Predator sunglasses

6. The Dark Knight Returns: And he does it in Ray Bans. Christian Bale wears  rb 3324 aviator sunglasses as Bruce Wayne in this blockbuster. It seems super heroes have a soft spot for this particular brand with Robert Downey Junior too sporting a pair of 3320′s in the movie Iron Man.

7. Reservoir dogs: All the good bad guys wore a style of Ray Bans in this movie and the image of them all walking down the street in suits and shades will no doubt be an enduring one. The only truly good bad guy,  Mr Orange played by Tim Roth opted for the Clubmaster.

8. Dirty Harry:  Harry Callahan played by Clint Eastwood is perhaps THE toughest movie cop ever played. And also one of the coolest.

“I know what you’re thinking, punk. You’re thinking “did he fire six shots or only five?”……. you’ve gotta ask yourself a question: “Do I feel lucky?” Well, do ya, punk? “

9. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: Hunter S. Thompson’s most famous work was brought to vivid life by Johnny Depp who playing the gonzo journalist himself. Johnny Depp hid his characters presumably drug-crazed eyes behind a pair of RB3138 Aviators.

10. Easy Rider: This classic counter-culture movie has convinced me that the very next time I decide to ride through the American south in search of freedom, I´ll do it a la Peter Fonda, in a pair of Predators.

So there it is. Everyone a classic and everyone in some way helped shape the Ray Ban Legend. Good work by their marketing people I guess, but I don´t think any of the movies would be quite the same were it not for the shades…..
